Death is not an on and off button
People do not die when they take their last breath
That’s just the finishing touch
Death is a gradual process
It occurs while you are alive
It’s a reaction to pain
When the soul cannot bear the pain of living
She dies a little
Every time she is violated
She dies a little

People walk around being more or less alive
Even some children are already half dead
They have been through too much
Some people have very little life left in them
They are the walking dead
You recognize them by the glazed look in their eyes
Their lack of curiosity
Their repetitive way of living
Their incapacity to indulge, to wonder, to cheer
Their unwillingness to learn or change

However, death is not a linear process either
It’s more of a squiggle
You die a little and then you come back to life a little
Even when you have died for 99%
It is possible to reverse the process
It is possible to heal
It is possible to increase your aliveness
If you want, it is possible to retrieve the lost pieces of your soul

Life is always just one breath away
We can be immortal
